چکیده
Persistant hyperplastic primary vitreous (PHPV) was described in detail as a clinical entity by Reese1 in 1955 in his Jackson Memorial Lecture. Goldberg in his 1997 Jackson Memorial Lecture2 renamed PHPV as persistent fetal vasculature (PFV). PHPV is a pathologic entity resulting from abnormal persistence of the fetal fibrovascular primitive stroma (hyaloid system) of the eye3,4 which should disappear by the time of birth. The primary vitreous forms around the seventh week of life and begins involuting by 20 weeks.5 Persistence and hypertrophy of these vessels can result in PHPV in the anterior and/or posterior chambers. It can give rise to leukocoria, retinal detachment and subretinal hemorrhage.6

Co-existence of Two Rare Conditions: Oculo-Palato-Cerebral Syndrome and Congenital Chylothorax
Background: Oculo-palato-cerebral syndrome is an extremely rare condition characterized by various features, including low-birth weight, microcephaly, cerebral atrophy, mild-to-severe developmental delay, cleft palate, persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous, microphthalmia, small hands and feet, joint laxity, and large ears with thick helices. Diagnosis of this syndrome is based on the clinic...
متن کاملPersistent hyperplastic primary vitreous involving the anterior eye.
The imaging features of persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous (PHPV) affecting the posterior eye are well known. We recently encountered a patient with the anterior variant of PHPV who had MR imaging of the orbits. We present the clinical and imaging findings of this unusual entity and discuss the therapeutic options available for its management.
متن کاملA case of morning glory syndrome associated with persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous and Peters’ anomaly
We report a case of morning glory syndrome (MGS) associated with persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous (PHPV) and Peters' anomaly. A 2-day-old girl, born at term with a birth weight of 3,350 g was diagnosed with Peters' anomaly, cataract, microphthalmia, PHPV, and MGS. A right limbal lensectomy and vitrectomy with stalk cauterization was performed 8 days later. No early postoperative complic...
متن کاملCase report: Microphthalmos associated with cataract, persistent fetal vasculature, coloboma and retinal detachment
We present here a case of left eye microphthalmos associated with cataract, persistent fetal vasculature (previously known as persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous), iris and retinochoroidal coloboma and retinal detachment. No surgical intervention was done and the patient was kept on regular follow-up.
متن کاملEcthyma gangrenosum in a previously healthy pediatric patient and associated facial paralysis and persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous
BACKGROUND Ecthyma gangrenosum is an infective lesion of the skin and mucosal membranes. It is most commonly caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and the most important risk factors are malignancy and neutropenia. However, it has rarely been reported in children who were previously healthy. Persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous has been described as the persistence of the fetal hyaloid vascular...
